Our Founders Story
Emily Lawrence
Founder and Facilitator
Emily holds a BA(Hons) in Creative Expressive Arts, Health and Wellbeing (First) from the University of Derby plus a Certificate in Holistic Relationship Coaching (CPD). She is a musical theatre performer and has taken part in multiple productions throughout her life and at university. She has played in shows such as Little Shop of Horrors (as a Street Urchin), Footloose (as Wendy Jo) and sung in multiple showcases performing solos and duets like “Come What May” from Moulin Rouge. She was also a Pit Singer in Legally Blonde!
After her own mental health declined she noticed how little artistic provision was offered, even though this was a huge part of her own life. She decided to complete her degree and start her journey to make Therapeutic Arts more accessable and spread the power of Arts for Health. The Arts hold a significant number of benefits to support change and help others and founding Voix de Soi is a testament to her passion of supporting others and spreading the opportunity of being supported and making change through the arts. She uses music, movement, drama, poetry and mindfullness with a sprinkle of visual art at times as she believes combining the arts together is the most powerful offer.
To get to know someone through the arts, is to get to know them indeed.
